Reggae Music hit the mainstream in the 70s and it was just as good as any of its predecessors despite gaining more of a wider audience. It evolved from jazz and older R&B and it also developed from ska and a form of music called rocksteady that developed in the 1960s in Jamaica. It was a quicker version of Rocksteady which helped make it more danceable as well. The music itself is quite simple and sometimes the entire song might not have more than a couple of chords. This lyrical effect lends to its hypnotizing influence.
