Countrypolitan is country music that is accessible and produced to give it a more mainstream appeal. It blossomed in the 70s as the sound hit its stride on FM radio stations. It was a producers medium who crafted the sound to give it mass appeal. It derives from the Nashville Sound of decades prior.
Country Rock
Country Rock is as the name overtly suggests is country music played in a rock and roll style. It has the earmarks of the rock counterculture as well as the well known back beat, and pop infused melodies. It derived from 60s Country Rock but was less straight up rock oriented as it was a bit smoother and a bit more polished.
